Extracurricular activities and sports programs
We offer a vibrant range of extracurricular activities and sports programmes designed to inspire creativity and build confidence. Our school values are woven through every opportunity, encouraging students to participate fully and try new things.
We are committed to helping every student discover and develop their unique talents so they can experience success and joy each day.
Sports programmes
We are proud to provide a challenging and inclusive sporting programme for all students. Every child takes part in swimming lessons each year, with new entrants to Year 2 attending Khandallah Easy Swim and Years 3 to 8 swimming at Keith Spry Pool.
Specialist coaching is provided through Kelly Sports, ensuring all students benefit from high-quality physical education and skill development.
Our close proximity to Nairnville Park allows us to offer a wide range of sports and host much-loved events such as athletics days, the colour fun run and cross country. School sports teams also use Nairnville’s indoor facilities for after-school activities like miniball and basketball.
Students can participate in netball (Years 1–8), basketball (Years 7–8), and miniball (Years 3–6), with teams coached and managed by dedicated parent volunteers. We encourage fair play, teamwork and personal growth, and our students regularly represent St Benedict’s with pride at Northern Zone and Wellington regional events. Other sports such as football, rugby, hockey and gymnastics are organised through local clubs, and we actively support students to get involved in these wider community opportunities.
Extracurricular activities
Beyond sport, we offer a wide array of extracurricular activities to suit a variety of interests. Kapa Haka enables students to connect with Māori culture through performance and language, fostering pride and cultural understanding.
Creative and performing arts options include Splat (drama club), guitar and keyboard lessons, and opportunities to participate in art, dance and music both during and after school.
These activities help students build friendships, discover new passions and develop valuable life skills in a supportive environment.
A culture of participation and belonging
Every child is encouraged to get involved, try something new and shine in their own way. Our extracurricular and sports programmes are supported by our dedicated staff, an enthusiastic parent community and strong partnerships with local organisations. Together, we create a school environment where students feel valued and inspired to be their best.
