St-Benedicts-School-Tania-Savage

Tēnā koe, A very warm welcome to St Benedict’s School

As Tumuaki/Principal, I am proud to lead St Benedict’s School – a vibrant community where each tauira/student, kaimahi/staff member and matua/parent is valued for their contribution.

Come and see our Kura/School in action

St Benedict’s is a New-Entrant to Year 8 school which offering a faith-based education. Our curriculum is designed to be stimulating and challenging,  supporting tamariki to become engaged, confident and active learners who enjoy school and take pride in being part of our special school.

On behalf of our staff, our school’s Board and our Friends and Whānau Fundraising Committee (FWFC), I extend a warm welcome to you all and encourage current and prospective parents alike, to come and experience the wonderful learning that takes place here. It would be my pleasure to show you around our kura and to tell you more about our community.

Our Catholic Character
As a Catholic school, our values are at the heart of everything we do. Through daily prayer, Religious Education programmes and shared liturgies, we actively live our values which positively influence all relationships within our school community.

We place a strong emphasis on our school’s EPIC. Gospel Values.  The values of Empathy, Perseverance, Integrity and Creativity, inspired by our founding order, The Brigidine Sisters, are woven into every aspect of school life.

School Vision
Our school motto, ‘Developing our Children’s Minds, Growing our Children’s Hearts’, reflects our commitment to being a school community which, in partnership with families and through our values, creates strong foundations where our students can truly become the best they can be, both now and in the future.

A Committed, Dynamic and Experienced Team
The success of our school lies in the strong relationships between tamariki (child) and kaiako (teacher). We are very fortunate to have an experienced and dedicated team of kaiako, awhina Kaiako (teaching assistants) and kaimahi (staff). Throughout the year, our students enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular camps, day trips, clubs and events to nurture their holistic development.

Our Curriculum
Along with The New Zealand Curriculum Framework covering eight defined learning areas, we also follow the comprehensive Religious Education Programme for Catholic Schools in Aotearoa.

Our all-encompassing programmes combine nurture of the individual with engaging learning experiences to support and meet the holistic needs of all students at each stage of their development.

Our Tamariki/Students

Our students are the heart of our school. They are happy, respectful, enthusiastic and motivated to learn.  They are the jewel in our crown and make us proud when achieving highly in academic, sporting and cultural activities. When they leave St Benedict’s, they are well prepared for the next stage of their journey.

Parents as Partners, The Church and Our Community
We are fortunate to have a supportive parent community and value parents as partners in their children’s learning.

We also enjoy an excellent relationship with the wider St Francis of Assisi Ohariu Parish.

Developing a strong sense of community and belonging is central to our school culture.  We understand that positive relationships are at the heart of students achieving success, and so we strive to be inclusive and active members of our community.

School Board and Friends and Whānau Fundraising Committee (FWFC)
We are fortunate to have a knowledgeable and passionate School Board. Their diverse talents and ability to work collaboratively is vital to the ongoing improvement of our school.

We are blessed with an engaged and dedicated FWFC committee who actively fundraise to provide valuable additional resources for the school.
